Developments
The Johannesburg Development Agency's has a three-year plan to revitalise Randburg. These plans include upgrading the physical infrastructure of the area's CBD, economic development and empowerment, social development, environmental interventions, urban management and marketing.
The goal is to develop Randburg as an attractive and vibrant mixed-use node particularly focused on maximising and enhancing its role as a public transportation node and centre for small businesses, and which plays a significant economic role in the context of the City.
Strategies
According to the JDA, to achieve the project goal in an integrated and sustainable manner, the project addresses the following five strategies:
- Promoting socio-economic growth and investment
- Improving connectivity and transit facilities
- Positioning Randburg as a destination
- Improving legibility of urban form and activity in the public realm
- Enhancing and diversifying the residential market
